ANNA HANNON
GILL
Fellow Residents, I am a candidate for re-election as Village Trustee on Friday, May 26 and I am asking for your support and your vote. I am running again for the same reasons I ran in 1998; primarily because there are critical issues at stake that will impact our beautiful, unique and treasured corner of the world and the manner in which we enjoy it. For more than 20 years I have taken great pleasure from Saltaire. Someone I respect once told me that you must invest more than money in the things you love, that those things must be nurtured with time, effort and tolerant understanding. Even before I fully understood its meaning or import, I knew that this was a principle I wished to adopt personally and professionally. Saltaire is precious to me. Serving as a Trustee is a way to give something back. My goals as Trustee have and will continue to be to:
In a world of instant gratification and response, we must be careful to take the time to balance immediate solutions with long-term impact. Our resolutions must serve all of our principles, not one or two at a time. Our principles must be reflected in our laws, which should be consistently enforced. Likewise they should be sparingly and judiciously developed. It is important to remember that Saltaire is a place the majority of its residents come to enjoy themselves. During my term, in addition to my responsibilities for Village financial activity, I have:
As a Citibank Vice President, I manage its relationship with a global telecommunications utility that transmits sensitive cross-border institutional securities and cash activities. I work with representatives of every major financial institution in the world. Finding solutions that transcend individual national or corporate considerations is the most difficult (and satisfying) aspect of my responsibilities. The best solutions are always those that address root or source problems rather than symptoms. My professional experience includes Management Consulting, Product Development, Technology, and Operational Engineering. Not surprisingly, I have found that the same techniques and principles can be successfully applied to many Village issues. I am convinced that many of the issues that produce the most vehement differences among us should be reviewed in the context of identifying alternatives rather than destructive debates between polarized choices. We have exceedingly intelligent, creative people whose skills and contribution can yield fully-informed, comprehensive alternatives. I will continue to work toward developing such groups, or join those in progress. I encourage each of you to actively participate in such groups, whatever their genesis, as it suits your particular interest and knowledge. Please contact me if you would like to discuss any issue concerning the Village. I can be reached 212-657-2234.
