SCOTT S. ROSENBLUM

                              May, 2002

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am running for election as Mayor of the Village.

A Mayor is a leader who must exercise judgment and balance competing interests to get things done. A Mayor must implement new ideas, understand and listen to people and motivate trustees, volunteers, residents and employees to work hard for the benefit of the Village. Acting as Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Trustee over a ten-year period, and serving as managing partner of a major law firm and as a member and advisor of the boards of directors of public and private companies have provided the experience and leadership qualities to enable me to successfully guide us through the challenges that we face.

In the short period of time that I have been Mayor, we have made significant progress in bringing to closure many matters affecting the Village. We have negotiated new ferry and parking contracts, passed new laws concerning electrical safety and driving, and have made decisions to make our Village financially stronger.

We are now looking at our Village in new ways, innovating while preserving the Village’s special character.

During the past ten years, I have been involved in every major action of the Village. As Recreation Commissioner, I restructured the Camp Program and established both the Family Program and Pre-Camper and Library Programs; as Fire Commissioner, I established a solid foundation for the Fire Department, insuring that the Village’s needs were met; as Insurance Commissioner, I implemented a re-bidding policy allowing the Village to increase its coverage at lower rates; as Finance Commissioner, I helped prepare the Village financially for the many capital projects soon to be implemented; and as Trustee, I was intimately involved in rebuilding the beach after the storms of 1992 and 1993.

We face serious challenges. We are planning the beach renourishment project, the dock reconstruction, the Bayshore bulkhead reconstruction and renovation of the Village Hall, among others. The Village needs a serious leader to bring these projects to completion.

Your decision is important. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
