Fellow Saltairians:
I am running for the Saltaire Board of Trustees on May 27th. I will need all your support come election day to preserve the old Saltaire for the future.
My family has been a fixture in the Saltaire community for 32 years. The community has shaped who I am. My husband, Steve, has also become committed to and integrally involved with Saltaire. Running for the Board of Trustees will allow me to contribute my time, energy and expertise into a community that has given me so much. I have spent every summer of my life here and I cannot envision a future summer anywhere else.
Like most of us, I have led an active life throughout the years in Saltaire spending time on the tennis courts, softball field and out on the water sailing. Along the way I have been lucky enough to develop a number of longstanding friendships…people that are now family to me. Growing up I was a part of the Saltaire Day Camp, worked as a mother’s helper, a bay lifeguard, a sailing instructor and as a steward for the Yacht Club. I recognized the importance of community and the foundation that Saltaire gives to us all.
The more I have devoted myself to Saltaire, the more concerned I have become about its future. I have made a commitment to myself and the community to get more involved and voice my opinions on community affairs. This is my fifth year as an SCAA Board member and my third as an officer of the Board of Governors for the Yacht Club. I help put together the Arts & Music Festival, assist in running the Jogathon and serve as the Secretary of the Yacht Club. I intend to continue to work for the benefit of the community in my role as a Trustee as I have already done as a leader on the SCAA and Yacht Club boards.
I will bring a wealth of experience to the job of Saltaire Trustee. As a Senior Account Executive and licensed clinical psychotherapist, at a Performance Management firm, I am a lead consultant to senior leadership of Fortune 100 companies. I am responsible for identifying and executing solutions and strategies for a variety of challenges that affect the organization’s profitability.
Many of the attributes that have helped me in my professional life will serve me well in my role as a Trustee. I bring experience in negotiating, problem solving, and project management skills, combined with an intimate knowledge of the village, to a job that will surely require a great deal of dedication, insight, and fair mindedness.
There are several issues regarding our community that affect us all; finances, maintaining services and a strong staff, environmental and preservation issues all of which, and more, I will be addressing during the campaign. First and foremost, as a member of the Board I will be committed to keeping the best interests of Saltaire and its residents in mind. I will focus my energies on preserving the kind of community we take such pride and pleasure in.
I am looking forward to seeing you over the next two weeks, to discuss your concerns and answer your questions. For now, I thank you for your time and greatly appreciate your support. I would be honored to represent you in “preserving the old Saltaire for the future”.
